Last year in December, Xiaomi is announced its plan to start testing its payments service in India. Xiaomi is partnered with PayU and ICICI Bank to launch Mi Pay in the country, and it also confirmed that National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) had cleared Mi Pay for large group testing. The company has now debuted the Mi Pay 2.0 as an app with the latest release of MIUI Global Beta ROM. The latest beta updated brings Mi Pay 2.0 in the form of a standalone app.
This app is firstly spotted by FoneArena, which comes almost two months after the company began testing the service in India with the help of beta users. As per the report, the UI is basic and asks for the phone, SMS permissions, and contacts after being installed and booted up. This new payment app allows for UPI transaction, and it doesn’t list any rewards or promotions just yet. And this App is in testing still and it may also bring rewards and promotions once it’s live for commercial usage.
This payment app is only available for Indian users, and the Mi Pay APK is available for download for all those users who wish to give it a try. Last year, when Xiaomi had launched the service and said that Mi Pay in India will enable transactions using the UPI PIN and the VPA (virtual payments address). It will let users make payments by Bharat QR codes, as well as scanning QR codes. This app will also generate dynamic QR codes and personal static to receive payments from other users via UPI.
Moreover, you can check your account current balance and anytime you can link or unlink your bank account details with this application. Also, there will be an option to modify or reset the UPI PIN for your bank account.
